Personally I don't think theists are generally dumber than atheists. I would say, in many cases, they're less educated or, more accurately, more ignorant of scientific principles.
I prefer to judge people on their own merits, since I've encountered both very smart theists and very dumb atheists. So I won't generalise when I can avoid it.
Except for creationists. They're just dumb as fuck.
