Mormon apologists have had decades of bitter struggle trying to explain why even a molecule of archeological evidence for ANY of the crap Joe Smith put in the Book of Mormon has yet to be discovered in the Americas.
I recall reading an essay by Isaac Asimov a VERY long time ago about Velikovsky's BS explanation for the 'miracles' in the exodus story, and Carl Sagan in the original Cosmos again blasted Velikovsky, although, as I recall, without going much into the exodus angle.
Not much of a chance the author of Brilliant won't rely on special pleadings, ignoring most accepted science, jumping on weak and made up crap to support his whackadoodle bible myth.
And I can guaranty, if he does trip over any evidence supporting the existence of an enormous stack of turtles somewhere in the universe, he sure as hell ain't going to publish that.
