Sorry, Bill Nye, but you're assuming that the media is interested in reporting what the facts are and informing the public. The media, at least in America, doesn't do fact-checking anymore.
Our media has entered into what I believe historians will call "The Age of Solipsism", where they have just decided that reality is up for grabs and all knowledge is just opinion. One side says this and the other side says that. Who can really say what the facts really are? Let's just bring both sides on to each state what they believe and then let the audience decide for themselves.
