Because that is a very slippery slope. How many other things can we be said to support "directly" when we do things without knowing the background? Rape? Prostitution? Murder? Theft? Are any of those okay if they are properly regulated?
It's real simple. You shop for the cheapest product that will fill the need you have. or maybe you want an apple or tomato outside of their normal northern hemisphere growing season? Where does that come from? A south American plantation who operates much like the plantations of the 1800 in the southern states.
These people are working/slaving for one reason. To provide a consumer based soceity with the products it buys. There is no other reason for them being there. That's what makes you responsiable for their conditions.
Which brings us to the otherside of the coin. Without our soceity these people would not have jobs period, and would die/starve. We need them, they need us.
What the bible does is protect them from a pure exploitaive relationship, like what we have now, because people like you want to sit on their imagined high horse and pretend all Slavery is bad.
WAKE UP!
The World runs on and NEEDS slavery to one degree or another. It always has and will unless we can develop our robotics far enough along to do all the labor jobs for free.
Dirch Dirch DIRCH sweatshop people get paid and live a free life. People do sweatshop work to provide for their families if you did any research on it. Its a tough job market some people unfortunately need to get by any way possible. its not slavery it can't be even compared to slavery
.
Slaves do not get a chance at life all they do is fucking work. They work day in day out. they do not get a chance to live a normal life. They die from abuse or they are killed trying to escape.
