Oh, I do understand it. And it's not a religious aversion, it's the primary reason for religion. People always feel the need to have a fundamental answer for things they can't wrap their minds around. Religion provides comfort for these people because it gives them their answers. First it was probably the sun and the moon, now it's some scripted deity. That's all that changed within the last 30.000 years or so.
