Indeed.
And I'm totally not OK with the idea that parents should be allowed to to whatever they want to/with their children, and to force harmful beliefs onto them. Just like it's not OK for God to treat us how he likes just because he claims to have created us.
When someone is dependent on you, you have a duty of care to look after them. That should involve educating yourself first.
