Well, he's said to have conducted some interesting experiments on buoyancy, human flight, and re-animation -- not to mention his work on physical and mental illness, which laid the foundation of all future medical studies. Perhaps his greatest scientific achievement, though, was his contribution to vintners and alcoholics everywhere.
It's just a shame that no one was taking good notes.
