My neighborhood in Baton Rouge is overwhelmingly black (probably 90%). The many people I've met and got to know have never been anything but polite to me, and I have good reason to think they feel the same of me. I consider most of them to be nothing but good neighbors and a few as friends (a word I don't toss around lightly). I've never been called 'cracker' (at least not to my face), nor have I encountered any of the fake, unearned militancy simple_moss demonstrates here.
And I'll pre-emptively invite him or anyone else who wants to suggest that I'm pulling the "I have a black friend" dodge of some stereotypical closet racist to go into the nearest corner and fuck himself. Twice.
