I suspect a great many people here have probably put in a lot more effort than you to discern whether a god exists or not. It's not a question of whether someone has lived up to this insane obligation to "look". It's a question of whether the shit we're supposed to believe is convincing enough to make us believe it in the first place. Some people are more easily convinced than others (read: more fucking gullible). The thing that is the most ridiculous about this absurd notion, is that if god were to punish us for either option, looking and not being convinced or not looking at all, one way or another he is a massive fucking cunt.
Not only that. But if it were so easy as simply 'looking' for him, I suspect everyone on this planet would not only be Christian, but they'd be the right denomination and all believe the same shit. The very fact even you guys can't agree on what's right or what to follow in that big book of myths you call the bible, suggests even further this isn't some trivial task like "looking for him".
If we genuinely 'search for god' and we come to the conclusion he isn't there, and we're wrong, he's going to punish us for... what exactly?
And if we don't look at all, what in the flying fuck makes this asshole god so self important that he wants every bastard on this planet to spend their lives searching for him? Why should we be obligated to seek him out? Please enlighten me.
Don't come back with "because your fate in the afterlife is on the line", or "jesus died for you" or some other nonsense. Let's say both of those are true. Muslims could argue the same thing and they'd have just as much validity.
No, god can come to me thanks. I'm not inclined to believe he exists any more than some other bullshit you come up with, like Harry Potter is real, or a cosmic space turtle shat everything into existence, because by all accounts, any actual evidence that he does exist, doesn't fucking exist.

If you've made some groundbreaking discovery and have undeniable proof of his existence, that you happened to come across while simply 'looking', please collect your nobel fucking prize.
Also, another fuckin thing. Say someone in some uncontacted Amazonian tribe doesn't 'look for god', because they're busy being brought up on worshipping trees, or the sun, or other shit that makes way more sense than some all seeing sky daddy. Do they get a free pass to heaven or do they get punished? Either way your god sounds like an asshole. If he gives them a free pass, that's not exactly fair to me is it? Or anyone else for that matter. If he punishes them, then damn, what a cold hearted sadistic bastard.
If he's real, he'll know my reasons for not believing in him, and if he's not a total cunt I'm pretty sure he'd let me off. That would be the reasonable thing to do. So given that, I'm not too worried about my fate. Nor should anyone else be. The thing that sickens me most is the insidious nature behind the 'have you seriously looked' line of thinking. It implies not only that you've looked harder than someone else, but also that you apparently care more. Talk about arrogance.
If he doesn't forgive me for not accepting the quite obvious and undeniable evidence for his existence that you are insinuating is there if people just happen to 'look for it', then this god is not one I would worship, even if I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt he was real.
