Bad as you want to be.
Yeah, it is a weird rule .. or is it really a guideline? Damned if I know. But I sure wish no one had to do anything about it. If no one responds because everyone involved has moved on .. whatever. Let the noob talk to themselves or to whoever shows up that is interested for all I care. Just hate that anyone has to be bothered by it.
Yea yea guidelines schmuidelines. I don't think I have ever necrod anything that annoyed someone, but....I do tend to rep those who do it. I'm not rebellious enough to intentionally do things that might annoy mods. I know their job is tough and without pay. I just think bad rules are meant to be broken. If we can't call people out, but want to respond to a post in an old thread, our only option is to necro that thread. And if the user happens to be someone who doesn't hang about anymore...so what? We can continue the conversation without them or let the thread die again. If you create a new thread about the same topic, cool. If you comment in an old one and get the conversation started back up, cool. I don't see how one is better than the other. That's why it's good as a guideline only. Necroposting in the occasional interesting old thread never hurt anyone even if the person you respond to isn't here anymore. But...necroposting 8 100 year old threads about shit topics in your first week on the forum can be kind of annoying.
