Because they make them feel insecure. If they were strong in their believes, they wouldn't have to delete or ban.
But personally, I don't see the point in visiting a christian board. What's to gain? Neither do I believe that they're open to reason, nor do I wish to go out and convert. It would be just about throwing shit at each other and that's not on my list of favorite sports.
That's why I also refrain from visiting conservative boards. Just as with christians, I know what they stand for. So there's nothing to gain knowledgewise either.
I hear you. I was a semi-active member at one Christian forum, not in order to troll, but rather to discuss, at the invitation of a member at ThinkingAloud. I didn't push my own views, and found that their views weren't terribly useful, so I stopped visiting.
I apparently signed up to CARM's forums as well, without ever posting. I just took a look at one of their threads .... your typical battle of the Bible verses. Funny how the infallible word of a perfect deity is so often subject to multiple interpretations.
