And I am glad I took part and still take part in Gamer Gate.
There's two wings of GamerGate:
1. The "everyone is out to get us - especially women - so let's hit them first" wing
2. The "gaming journalism sucks, and should be fixed" wing
Make no mistake - GG started as a way to punish Zoe Quinn for allegedly sleeping around to get favorable reviews of her indie game as reported by her jilted ex-boyfriend. The 4chan screenshots discussing 'retribution' are widely available for all to see. A game that was free, btw. From there, it spiraled out as a campaign against any woman who dared besmirch the 'boys only' activity of gaming, including critic Anita Sarkeesian.
The "It's actually about ethics in gaming journalism" portion came afterward due to a hilarious misreading of an email group message between various prominent gaming journalists. Allegations of collusion popped up, but having read through the emails myself, it was really just benign correspondence between professionals. Other professions do the same thing. It's no big deal.
That anything positive has come out of the shitstorm is amazing. IMO, the people who want to force the media to regain their sense of accountability would be better off dropping the GG name altogether. You can't claim moral authority when your group has no problem doxxing, harassing, and threatening others. Or for having Adam Baldwin as cheerleader #1.
In the land that adults work and live in, that kind of shit isn't acceptable. Hopefully, gamers will grow up, because it's embarrassing to see.
The thing is, GamerGate is still making gains. Just yesterday, TheVerge sneakily updated it's disclosure policy when making a review; this is the same website that hated gamers.
Since when is the majority of GamerGate approving of doxxing and harassing? The main hub for GamerGaters (Kotakuinaction) has it written in the rules that harassment is not acceptable. And to be honest, the gaming press's treatment towards gaming comparing them to terrorists is not moral.
Statistically, Anti-Gamer Gate have thrown out more threats than pro-Gamer Gate. I suggest you watch the ''Anti-Gamer speaks video'' I posted on the previous page.
GamerGate reacted because Gamers do NOT want the gaming press calling them horrible, awful human beings who are akin to terrorists. In the land where adults live and work, ethics is needed and demonizing the demographic you report for is not professional. In terms of the degree of ethics:

And it is about ethics in games journalism, the sheer fact that the Gaming press immediately reacted with a slew of articles attempting to assassinate the gamer identity shows they can fling shit, but they cannot take it back.
People are distrustful of Anita Sarkeesian because she is a known fraud. This video flat out shows her saying ''I love gaming'' to another lesser known clip of her saying ''ew, I don't play video games''.

CH Sommers, a Feminist with a PHD was subsequently harassed for saying that gamers aren't what the media is making them out to be.
