Cocaine is just a crude chemical route to stimulating pleasure.
I, and most of society, agrees with you. Short circuiting the reward mechanisms of the brain has some serious down sides. In cocaine this is accentuated because, in addition to the dangers of self neglect, there side effects of paranoia, threat of cardiac death, stroke, tolerance, tissue necrosis, etc.
But direct brain stimulation is even scarier, though harder to implement and would be an even bigger threat to an uploaded trans-human. Sort of a super porn that eats all other motivations.
