Is this due to the park environment or that they're in a group? The rabbits I have around my house want nothing to do with me and my cuddles.

Yeah, neither do the ones around my country place - though the fact that the area is ripe with predators (of the two- and four-legged variety, as well as winged) probably has a lot to do with that. I don't think very many of them live more than a year or so before ending up a something's dinner.
