It is a moral distinction if he's a personal ethical egoist. From Wiki: "[...]a personal ethical egoist would hold that he or she should act in his or her own self-interest, but would make no claims about what anyone else ought to do".

According to Wikipedia, I'm not an ethical egoist. An ethical egoist posits that he 'should' act in his own self-interest.

I'm a psychological egoist. I posit that people are only capable of acting in their own self interest. That makes the concept of 'should' moot.
