Sam Harris seems to fall into the Islamo-Christian trap of the false dichotomy. Their argument is usually that either morality is prescribed by a deity or else anything goes. Implied, which Harris falls for, is "moral relativism = amorality".
If the statement "morality is objective" has any meaning, I would expect it to be somehow measurable, much the same way we can measure the speed of a falling object, the temperature in a room or the mass of an rock. I can't think of any way to measure "moral units" or how one might determine the right course of action by plugging numbers into a spreadsheet. The closest is Bentham's Utilitarianism but even here there's some subjective judgment as to the levels of pleasure or pain an action might bring.
The existence of a law-giving deity would not solve this problem for objective morality. In this case, you would have a deity making judgments as to right and wrong but how can we be sure that his/her/its judgment is sound? This isn't objectivity. It's deferring our judgment to another being's.
Some Christians have tried to get around this by claiming that Yahweh IS the very personification of goodness in the universe. This quality they ascribe to their god can only be determined by circular logic (Yahweh is good because Yahweh is good).
Morality is relative. The very fact that we use terms like "moral judgment" underscore the fact that on some level we must realize this is true.
