So, here we go with my second thread.
I got thinking about Islam and how they perceive sexuality of men and women. This, as you probably know is probably off the back of what the group ISIS did when they pushed a few men to their deaths from high buildings.
Anyway, back to the main point. It was a few years ago, when the United Kingdom (please correct me if I am wrong) decided to accept that same-sex couples can marry each other. In a liberal society such as ours, it is acceptable and strange for other societies.
So, one day I was working in Paris, where the majority of people who work there are either Moroccans, Algerians or Tunisians. This same day, a woman who is Algerian (Sunni Islam) asked me for my opinion about same sex marriages because I was born in England. I gave my opinion in that, people can do what they like, it is not upto us to tell others what to do. We can have an opinion about it whether it is a good one or a bad one.
I thought I would at least get a "fine, no problem." On the contrary, what I got in fact was the third degree. Especially, when they asked for my opinion about my daughters and if one of them marries another woman. I stated my opinion in that, as far as I'm concerned, they are my flesh and blood, and I will stick by their decision should it ever happen 150%, just like every parent should do. The reaction I got was a an gaping mouth with no words coming out.
With that being said, I also stated that as long as they are happy, then why should I want to spoil their happiness, I am neither a religious nutbag or fascist, although they are fairly similar.
So, with that being said, I find that as far as Islam is concerned, their tolerance towards same-sex marriages or same-sex couples is very, very little to non-existant. It is indeed a fascist religion founded on intolerance towards anyone that is different.
One thing of note, there is in fact a mosque for homosexual men in Paris...
.
So, what are your thoughts, if any at all?
