Very true. This is what makes it so annoying when Christians try to pretend as though Jesus erased it from ever occurring. Jesus had the old testament and was very familiar with it. He exploited the prophecies he could, and then tried to make excuses for the ones he could not (i.e. being the son of David). The Jews still think Jesus was a liar on those counts.
I kinda see Jesus as a PR rep for God. After the old testament, God's image was in major need of a makeover. God was able to go on record as a sadistic maniac, order all the crazy things documented in Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Exodus, and with a waive of a hand, Jesus smoothed all of that over for the Christians who continue to make excuses for behavior that is egregious even by human standards of morality. The crazy part is, Jesus reinforced all of the old crazy shit put down from God in the earlier episode, he'd never hope to gain any traction among the jews if he didn't.
“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Christians have all of this IN THEIR BOOKS, and they still don't smell anything fishy! The truth is, the blatant inconsistencies that make Christianity a ridiculous ideology could not be any clearer. But such is the way of delusion...
