Not bad for three cats, considering they were eating up an 18lb bag of purina crap in less than a month's time. I think I paid $25 for it. Now that I've seen the results and what it's done for the babies, I'm going to stick with it. They are totally worth it.
I've done a lot of work trying to educate myself on what the best food is to feed a cat and corresponded with some of the people who are posting about feline nutrition and advocating certain diets and these are my take-aways:
- 1) Dry food won't do jack shit for dental health unless they actually chew the kibbles (and most cats don't) so don't use that as an excuse. Brush their teeth, or find another way to maintain dental health.
- 2) A BARF diet, or other raw diet, might be the best in terms of health, but if you can't afford it:
- 3) Feed them a wet food (and maintain dental health by brushing or some other method)
- 4) Cats should not get food with corn or grain fillers; they are obligate carnivores and have no business eating food with corn or grains as the #1 ingredient.
- 5) Fish-based foods are not good for cats because of the contaminants and heavy-metals. If you feed your cat fish limit it to occasional treats, don't include it in every day meals.
