As for what you said about Adam and Eve, I can see that as what they were deceived into thinking, why else would they have eaten it.

Because God put it there? Because God created them to require food before it was possible to die, and an apple is food? Because God designed a world that could not possibly be hospitable to a species of anything that doesn't die because there isn't enough surface area on the planet to allow for infinite reproduction without death. If there was no death before sin, why would they even be created with the feeling of hunger? They ate it because the story makes it very clear that God created an environment and then a species of primate that was inherently dependent on a number of things within it that only make sense AFTER the "consequences" for sinning are impuned. It's a load of ridiculous fairy tale holy-shit!
