I see where you're getting at, Pyrrho. I really do love having knowledge of something, even when I'm without a practical use for it, for its own sake. However, I think Rob tempered his comment nicely to reflect an appreciation on both sides, when taken in its entirety, and its given more weight when you consider its coming from Rob. It's hard to take a stance against a well balanced thought.
And on journeys and destinations, I think having an appreciation for the destination is a little more natural, so having a little piece of wisdom to remind yourself and others to appreciate the journey seems necessary and helpful. It helped to remind me.

I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
