I'm really not fond of the monicker "militant atheist", because it is usually a double standard: the same amount of conviction on the theist side would simply be called "Christian" or "moderate muslim". Yet, even what people usually call "militant atheists" are by and large more open, anti-discrimination than your run off the mill theist.
I still checked the box "militant" because I loathe it when people that an atheist who dares to try and convince others of his or her position is "just as bad as the religious zealots", and when they maintain that even arguing against religious belief is somehow immoral and highly impolite. I encounter it so often and I'm tired of it. I do however often move among believers, and I do not usually confront them about their religious beliefs in everyday life, unless there is a concrete reason.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
