The difference is that math defines what the potential is but that does not translate into an infinity of actual sensible bodies. For example someone can conceive of making an actual set of dots to which you can always add one more. But to actually draw an infinite number of dots is impossible. No matter where you are in space time there will only be a finite number of dots.
