No. I've actually never seen this one, though it might be worth it. I've heard it's not that good. ?
I think the first one lost a fair amount of money because 1) it didn't get great reviews, 2) they took out references to the enemy being the church, replacing it with a generic totalitarian authority, and 3) people still boycotted it because of the source material's content. Obviously, the interplay between these three things is complex.
I really think the trilogy could be brilliantly fantastically done. It would need the right director, a studio willing to put artistic integrity over profits and not shy away from the source material or the events in the (especially later) books (fat chance, I know, but people have made controversial films before), and an absolutely dynamite script/cast that would ensure we couldn't stop talking about it/forget about it after a few weeks. A lot to ask, I know, but I think the books are good/beloved enough that someone will try again in my lifetime.
