That definitely does not describe an afterlife that I want to go to. And that right there is a 50% side effect of contracting a soul.

But how can souls burn? Aren't souls supposed to be immaterial?
These are the kinds of question that made me doubt the existence of heaven/hell in the first place.
In the book of Revelations, Heaven (a.k.a New Jerusalem) is described as a very physical place and that always bothered me

It describes streets of gold and walls made of precious stones. It also describes twelve gates that are always open.
But why would there be walls if there is nothing to protect (what else can we assume if the gates are always open)? They seem to be pointless and how can a flawless perfect god create something imperfect?
