Oh yeah... there I was with my IS-8 and its 122mm gun... a rogue IS appears, turret turns, aims at the commander's cupola, shoot: "we dinged them".
M-41 artillery shot.... heading straight to the enemy's most dreaded TD: the Ferdinand (This was before we had US TDs in the game with their troll armor)... ding. How on Earth does a High Explosive shell just ding?
Anyway... I then started driving american medium tanks and, between their paper armor and poor shell penetration, I had to learn (well, I already knew, I just had to train it better) how to shoot at weak spots... and never rely on the gods of RNG... unless driving the KV-2 with its 152mm Howitzer gun... Like Jingles says, if you sacrifice enough dissidents to Stalin, you can just snapshot it and it goes in. Sort of works for any soviet vehicle. The undead hand of Stalin guides the shell to its target.
Then you have those awesome cases where one more shot and the guy's dead, on average.... you never get an average damage roll... the enemy always walks away with less than 10HP!... It's great when it happens to us, though! :p
There are always two teams on World of tanks and I'm always on the good team - the green one. (this is the connection to the thread's OP
