John 10:4-5 Jesus is giving the analogy:
"When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice."
In plainer terms, if you are a Christian you will read the Bible and follow Jesus' example--you will seek Jesus' voice. If you are not you will listen to voices of the world: pride, selfishness, greed, ect. The more we think like Christ the less we are tempted by Satan. It is our free will to choose one over the other, and this choice confronts us every day. In heaven those who believed Jesus' voice was the right voice will be made righteous and unable ever to be tempted again.
