Here in Michigan you can only legally drive on the road without insurance if you post $100,000 bond... .
It's a stiff ticket if you get caught driving without - and worse if you get in an accident without insurance - including losing your license for a year...
Fortunately you can own a vehicle without insurance and registration. (Some states you can't) We already pay for 4 vehicles (for 2 of us).
12 would kill us.... (If you count the 4 parts cars).
Here, if you don’t have some sort of third party insurance, you’re financially liable for whatever damages you cause while driving. Some people opt not to buy it. We call these people ‘morons’.
