There is, but there is not much use in me quoting verses from the Quran if you believe that all of it was written by men (in the first place).

Jihad literally means a "struggle" or a "striving" in the way of Allah.
However, there are also non-violent forms of Jihad which can be done with pen, tongue, hands, the media, internet, and in many other ways. Jihad is not always a violent Jihad. It can be a peaceful one as well. The only time when a physical Jihad is allowed in Islam is for defensive reasons, when Muslims are being attacked because of their religion, and when they have to protect their homes and families from an attack. There is no permissibility for an "offensive" Jihad, because there are several verses in the Quran which state that we are not allowed to harm any non-combatants if they are not harming us (whether they are infidels or not).
