Some of my ancestors were Bamileke who originated in Egypt and migrated to Cameroon between 1100-1300 so yes, perhaps.
But some were from Dahomey (now present day Benin) and they practiced a spirituality they pre-dates the Abrahmic faith; Vodun and related religions...which were also native spiritual practices in Congo, Cameroon, and Nigeria.
Before West Africa was colonized and fell prey the slave trade, most of my ancestors probably prayed to some iteration of Bondye and/or associated loa.
Some of them undoubtedly prayed to Allah as well, as some of the ethic groups of the Ivory Coast/Ghana migrated to the region from Sudan.
There are isolated tribes in Africa which do observe traditional Hebrew practices, true enough. But Africa's a big continent and Egypt isn't the only country there.
Christianity was not the primary religion of most Africans before European colonizers brought it there.
Heh heh...if I were ever be of the mind to give religion another go, traditional African spirituality is what I'd be inclined to look into. Vodun is the only one that gets my Spidey senses tingling in the slightest. And that ain't much. It's more of fascination/interest than anything else.
