This is why I said "subjective" vs "objective". Subjective progress is when you think we've moved forward in an ethical manner towards a more beneficial goal. Objective merely quantifies that we did indeed progress past a point. So the nukes were a more effective killing weapon as far as bombs go. That doesn't mean they were ethical by all of our standards.

So he has to define what he thinks is progress so we know where his ethical goalposts are, though I don't much really care because it sounds like he thinks science and tech are bad. I hope that's not the case. I don't want to go apeshit on stupidity of that level. It's not pretty or ladylike, and I'm wearing one of my favorite dresses today and don't feel like getting mucky.
