Thanks whateverist. I wouldn't want to derail the thread here but I could message you with my thoughts about it.

Cool..I'm no chessmaster but I've played it off and on since I was a kid. It can be fun to watch it played too..you ever see those guys who can play like 10 people blindfolded at the same time? Amazing what the human brain is capable of.

Also, if I have to shut one eye while I'm stopped in the car in order to judge distance between cars moving in the lanes, is that like what you have?
I can judge quantities by looking too, and have also won jelly bean contests
Hey Bunny,
I checked out the chess thread and it said "thread not found". Let me know where the thread is and I'll show up.
The problem I have is difficult to explain. I have pretty decent depth perception and I can gauge distances fairly well as far as navigating, although I couldn't tell you in feet or inches very well..I'm bad at estimating distances. Quantities I am okay with.
My stereoscopic vision is probably not too much off, but it is enough where my brain is just not processing the scene I am looking at efficiently. I feel like I am always kind of staring into nowhere, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn't. Here is the interesting thing..when I watch a 3D movie it trains my eyes to see right and then everything looks amazing. I can take in everything at once and it all flows. But when it goes back to "normal" I am processing all of the information inefficiently and it's like I can only grasp part of the scene at once. It's kind of a weird issue. I have good vision but my 3d vision is probably more like 2.65D
Here is an online test to see if your stereo vision is working properly:

For me I only ever see one finger..sometimes the finger starts to look like two but then the dot also starts to look like two at the same time.
This guy had his vision fixed by a 3d movie:

This lady had her vision fixed also by therapy I think (they said it couldn't be fixed)
