I need some help.
So I've tried a few games on Epic speed now, and it's really bugging me how quickly science progresses (I looked up what it was like on Marathon and apparently this effect only becomes more apparent). On normal speeds it isn't much of an issue, because in these instances I actually want to play a game that's relatively fast paced and everything seems balanced. Production went at a decent rate without being too long or slow, and tech progression was the same. But on Epic speed, production is so painfully slow and yet, the science progression is comparatively whizzing by. So much so that I really think it's breaking the game. Like, I was playing one game, and I hadn't even met another civ yet but I'd got a message saying someone else had already reached the medieval era. WTF! I had like 4 units and barely any buildings. I only had two cities. The strange thing is, the cities themselves seem to actually grow quite fast. The tech progression is faster still. But the production? It takes like 20 turns just to produce a single fucking unit. If you want to build a wonder you can basically forget about building anything else for the next 30/40 turns, but in that time you'll have probably researched 4 different techs, rendering the wonder you're trying to build completely obsolete?
Argh.
This is really bugging the shit out of me.
Does anyone know of a mod or another way of making the science progression longer and the production faster. The only mods I've looked up seem to change things I don't want or just break the game in other ways. All I want is to play a relatively long game but not be punished by having ridiculously slow production. I wouldn't mind the production being as slow as it is but the way you beast though the different techs you're in the renaissance era before you even get chance to build the pyramids. It's so unbalanced it's stupid.
