I've done many horrible things mentally, emotionally and physically to people in the past. Of course, I've tried to make amends to those people and to society in general for the things I've done. I think we've all done things we're ashamed of or are remorseful for. I'm no different. At the time I was quite pleased with the results. Sometimes when I'm conveying a memory I speak "in the moment" so I apologize for any failure in conveyance. I only brought it up to warn sae that not all perceived need is true need and she could be feeding someone's drug/alcohol or video game habit instead of filling an actual need. I always find it better to give food or work where food or work is requested. I give monetary donations to charities, but when it comes to the guy on the corner who wants food, I bring him food. Now, I don't do such selfish things, but only because I acknowledge my past and remember the pain I caused.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post
