Currently waiting for an egg to hatch in NMS; that's the next part of the game I haven't really got into but which I should do. There are thousands/millions of unique creatures in the game, and most of them you can adopt and ride... and genetically modify. Just find an interesting creature, adopt it, get it to lay an egg for you, then you can play about with genetic modifier to evolve their size, colours, and behaviour etc. So I'm starting out with a creature that was tantamount to a small fly from a toxic planet, which I'm hoping to make massive and fly around on .. not sure it's gonna get that big, but we'll see. You have to wait 24 real life hours for the eggs to hatch each time, so it's a slow process, but looking forward to doing it alongside other things in the game.
On YT I've seen others showcase their pets, and there was one which I thought was awesome and looked like Falcor from Never Ending Story.... I'd love to be flying around on that, if only I could find the planet the guy got it from, but for now I'll have to make do with my little fly
