Yes, it is grammatically correct, but Germans from Berlin would not have said "Ich bin ein Berliner". I don't agree with Wikipedia when it says that a jam doughnut is called a Berliner in some areas, and a Pfannkuchen in others. A Pfannkuchen is something completely different - more like a pancake. "Ich bin ein Berliner" means "I am a doughnut" to most Germans.
