It speaks to the perfectionist in me, the one that says, "If I can't do it 100%, I won't do it at all." Black and white thinking is a very common cognitive distortion in psychology, and it's one I have to combat often. A little bit of progress is better than none at all - something I often have to convince myself of on days I don't feel like working out... Maybe I don't have to do my one hour routine, but I can get twenty minutes of running in.
Self-improvement in general often works like this. I have to create small, manageable habits that turn into bigger, helpful lifestyle changes.
