Watching Justified: City Primeval. Have not watched any Justified previously. On episode 4 and doesn't feel necessary. Watching purely because I have gendered feelings about villainous Boyd Holbrook.
It is...okay. It feels paint by numbers crime show. Like, I feel like I must have seen this already with The Killing or Sons of Anarchy or somewhere, you know? Except it was better done in that other show(s). Boyd is alright as a mad dog killer. But it does make you wonder, like with the Joker: why doesn't anybody just kill him? Nobody likes working with him, got no friends, not even his lawyer(who he seems semi-abusive with??? What?!). And literally all the cops are tip toeing careful around him. It feels like wimpy excuses to keep him around in the show. The only one in this show who ENJOYS killing and is willing to do it is freakin Clement Mansell.
And Timothy Olyphant's daughter playing his character's daughter is awful. Bad baby voice. No emotion in her line delivery. It's her first role but my suggestion is to go to acting classes and get far away from projects with her dad. At least until she really can bounce off him properly. Not to mention the character they made her play was an idiot self-centered child of a police sheriff.
I've been watching AHS Hotel with my girl and I gotta say, really hate the trope of "child of a cop who has no sense of danger awareness/caution/self-preservation."
