In portuguese forums I usually tell those fuckers that still think he was a better guy than current politicians. My dad lost his dad in his 20 th year. He still speaks of him with great sorrow now. He kinda forgot about me and my two sisters after that, but I can't really blame him. I have told him many times he needed his dad to put a foot up his ass on time or another. Me? When I was 9, my dad was arguing with my mother and I feared he was going to beat her (he never did), so I slammed a chair in his back. Took a beating after that and he did not spoke with me for 2 months.

You talking about a horrible point in your past is keeping a horrible event alive. And that is my point. You were not glorifying what you just typed, just pointing out that others thought of someone as a hero and you knew the truth. The only way to correct a wrong, isn't for some to gloss it over, or for others in pain to ignore what happened to them, but to correct the event with no varnish.
My point for example, the Lee Statue at UVA should NOT be destroyed, but moved. The park where the statue resides should be renamed Heather Heyer park even with a statue of her. The Lee statue should be simply put in a museum like Nazis depicted in the Holocaust Museum as the bad guy.
Does that make sense?
