What do you consider an "actual job?" Manual labor where you bust your ass to make five figures a year? Tibs and I spent a whopping six or seven hours yesterday just playing Minecraft. It was awesome. We had all that extra time because we don't have what people like you think of as "actual jobs." We're both on our computers all day long. We sit in cozy air-conditioning, a few steps away from our own bathrooms, a kitchen, a grassy yard with a hammock to take breaks in and all of the other comforts of our cushy life. We don't commute. We usually don't even change out of our pajamas until noonish. Even then, I often put fresh jammies right back on. Oh, yeah. You look down on people like us derisively, but it's idiotic. We are quite comfortable financially. We veer slightly left of center. We would definitely rather play computer games all day than get a "real" job. You're just mad that you have to work a regular job while people smarter and more left than you make loads of duckets sitting on their asses in front of computers. Welcome to the age of the intellectual. Get in line for welfare, buddy.
Yep I am with you Shell.
I am 50. Up until 3 years ago I have had several jobs with few gaps since I was 17. My mother's health is why I finally quit so I could focus on taking care of her. Even with a college degree, I was mostly retail and fast food, and only spent 4 years in radio at a mom and pop shop radio station that paid as crappy as fast food and retail.
I am with you, I get tired of judgmental people who look down on low wage work. So I put my time in, 33 years. Every job is a REAL job. I feel extremely lucky that I am now in a position that I can take it easy for a while, which is why I don't shit on people who do low wage jobs, because I have been there.
I won't shit on fast food workers, because I have done it. I wont shit on retail workers because I have done it. I won't shit on janitors or trash truck drivers because they have tough jobs. If one doesn't want do do those things fine, but do not shit on those who do what you wont do.
An honest job is an honest job. I get tired of those who look down on others because they don't move up. The working class and working poor are not trash to be thrown away or looked down on. There would be no wealth without labor.
