realizing nothing of actual criminal significance (fines, incarceration) is in the offing for Bill Clinton regardless, and taking off the table any + for his victims and their ultimate vindication/recognition, the 'optics' of throwing old horny Bill under the bus are REALLY good.
I'm not seeing a downside.
Clinton Global Initiative will continue, Bill will continue to be a lucrative sell on the public speech circuit, and he still has the cache of an elder statesman, so let's have the Democrat Party share and enjoy the reduction in stench from being associated with the likes of him and reap the ancillary benefits of that.
Why isn't this a win-win outcome ??
