When someone responds to me with "NO, it was stupid!" ... there's not much to say except chuckle and move along.
Lol, since you took it upon yourself to accuse me of it, let me assure you that I'm not "desensitized from violence" at all. I actually can't even watch the animal discovery shows because I can't stand to see them killed for food. It's better not to make horrible, and generalized assumptions about entire groups of people.
As to answering your question, no, I don't think killing for food is evil. I also don't think it's "good". I think it's the result of the natural world we live in and necessary for ecosystem balance. This is Earth, not Heaven. It isn't meant to be the ideal place.

Hey Deb, forget "evil" for a moment. That's an arbitrary term.
Do you think bambi being ripped apart alive by a hyena (as part of God's plan) is a good thing in itself? Are you indifferent towards it?
I'm suspecting that religious people have desensitised themselves towards natural violence as part of their indoctrination as a way of coming to terms with God and his deeds in the bible...
EG: if it's ok for God to genocide the whole planet, what's one dead baby dear in comparison....
As atheists, we know and accept this as without this, we wouldn't have evolved to what we are today in, the first place.
We know that evolution is blind, unconscious and wouldn't know what a baby dear is anyway...
We accept this, it doesn't mean we have to necessarily think it's a good thing.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
