Our lives are riddled with these instances where we try too hard to convince someone else that something should be done differently.
Except that logic should absolutely show reason over routine.
Routine will always be the destruction, for it shows no willingness toward change that respects truth over comfort.
Not all are well versed in logic and reason, able to employ robust critical thinking skills, have honest curiosity, employ skepticism when appropriate, etc.
Some humans primarily rely on their brains' limbic system and avoid use of there frontal cortexes to the point of atrophy.
Although only through a somewhat small sample, I have observed hundreds of humans whose brains are underutilized, diseased and/or avoided. Most are infected with irrationality, emotionalism, confusion and/or one of the numerous and currently active strains of the God Virus.
