I think that the overall acceptance of LGBTQ Americans is due to the decline of evangelical Christianity in America and its influence in the political sphere.
what about catholicism, formal protestantism? with the luthern movement and the subsequent fractures, all the way down to the abandoment of the small neighborhood churches to the mega churches who hold 25,000 people at a time and also hold 3 services?!?!?
what your witnessing is spiritual growth in the church that is all. even if there isn't a need to hate homosexuals which causes another growth spirt in the church no one is allowing this sin to be taken off the books, just treated like any other sexual sin.
