You know why? Because science has figured out it almost certainly doesn’t exist. Science hasn’t gotten us nearer to your god or salvation because it has figured out there most likely isn’t any god, and salvation is nonsense.
That's true in a limited sense only. Science hasn't gotten nearer to God because the existence of God isn't a scientific question. Properly speaking, science has no business coming down on either side of the God question (although individual scientists are perfectly free to do so).
