Star wars is pure fiction there was never Death Star or The Empire or Darth Vader or the Destruction of Alderaan . Slavery actually happened in the American South the Confederacy was very real . See the difference.
That's incredibly vague because there are lots of works of fiction that contain things that actually happened but that doesn't mean that we should take the fictional claim of fictional characters seriously.
And, yes, the death star didn't happen but genocide has. Does this mean that we should ban all genocidal protagonists from fiction because it endorses genocide? Of course not. It makes zero sense to fight against the fictional claims of fictional characters. Fiction is fiction is fiction is fiction. That's the whole point of fiction. If fiction gets banned because it contains certain stories or certain characters that are deemed 'unacceptable' then that limits fiction and the whole point of fiction is for it to have no limits.
