Fortunately Christianity, like all other groups, can change over time. Not as fast as we'd like, I'm sure. But there are Christians who oppose the way that our world runs on cruelty, among people and towards animals as well.
It's a painful process. We see that in the US, opposition to institutional cruelty against black people draws out a cruel response from others.

I must say at first i read about the Shipbuilder in translated to Persian book that Brian Wilson has wrote about Christianity.
after this post I searched Google and find there is a mistaken in that translated book. He was a Ship-master and not shipbuilder.
