Those sources, including NPR* have lost all credibility IMHO. Even the Young Turk podcast is noticing a discrepancy between what is actually be presented at trial and what left-leaning legacy media are reporting.
The trial is going so poorly for the prosecution that the state lawyer seems to be intentionally trying to get a mistrial. The star witness openly admitted that Rittehouse was on the ground while he advanced toward him, pointing a glock directly at Kyle. NPR falsly reported that the witness had his hands up. Yeah, up to aim his weapon.

No-one claimed the "veracity" of the Steele dossier. It was raw intelligence, and that is often wrong. I'm still thinking the pee-tape is real, but that's just me.
The witness did have his hands up. However, he testified that he subsequently lowered his hand to point the weapon. If that information was not released before, it is not hard for NPR to get it wrong.
As for the trial, the "left leaning" media are reporting that Kyle was an excellent witness on the stand, and the prosecutor's case is in trouble.
