Even after my third child when I was a little chunkier than I was used to, I still wasn't considered to be overweight. My mother, father, and siblings are/were healthy weights though in his later years dad did carry a little more around the middle. My brother is a BIG guy but his weight is completely in proportion to his 6'6"+ height and has basically been the same weight since he played football in HS and college. Our local newspapers always referred to him as 'Big Mark lastname' in any articles on football and wrestling. It's not like people had to differentiate him from any other Mark lastname as our last name was pretty unique. He calls me a dwarf. At 5'3", if I stand up real tall, I guess to him I am.
5'3"? Was a time I would have said "a good height for a woman" Today that would probably be politically incorrect.
When I first began dating, all of the girls I went out with were between 5'2" and 5' 4" My ex wife is five feet and half an inch exactly. At one point she worked with a bloke who was 7 feet tall!
I didn't date anyone taller than that range until 1994. She was 5'6".
I worked with quite short Vietnamese man who had a son 6 feet ten inches, and a daughter nearly 6 feet. Both born here. I suspect that might have something to do with the antibiotics fed to livestock here, especially to chickens.
Has the average height increased in the US within say the last 40 years?
Me? I'm 5' 10.5". Currently weigh a bit over 14 stone, or almost 200 lbs. I'm about 20 lb heavier than I like to be. Really don't care for the tits.
