If we look at this recent mid-term election, there were a lot of close calls, even in Democratic-won states. Seems like the country is quite divided right down the middle, and it's really hard to say what the 2024 election will look like.
I'd say the majority of Americans hate Trump, and many Repubs look to be distancing themselves from him.
I'm not sure what an Independent could do to pave the way, but even a Libertarian would be refreshing. I'm not sure if any other party would be 'better,' but it might shake things up and sometimes, that's needed for mindsets to change.
to be blunt, the republicans who hate trump are still more trumpy than not if they could find it in themselves to remain republicans while trump still breaths politically.
Regarding what do I mean by a Libertarian...just the broadest definition for now - they're interested in keeping government out of our private lives, which sounds good for some things, not good for others. I'd be more pro-Independent than Libertarian, admittedly though, I don't know enough about Libertarianism to see if it'd be overall beneficial for the US or not, or if it would just be a different label, but more of the same bipartisan nonsense.
